I never talk about work at home - unless I do something good - or bad. I rarely if ever talk about people I work with at home, but Ares has come in to the office a few times in the mornings and met some people.
As we're buckling up after daycare:
Ares: Mom, if your boss Eric is ever mean to you, I'm going to run to your work and yell at him... or take a car, I will take a car to your work and get him.
Me: Thanks Ares, but my boss is very nice, you won't have to do that.
1)About 3 months ago, Ares asked me what the name of my "boss" was, I told him once, I've never mentioned it again
2)This was completely unprovoked and very random. Crazy!
3)There's a kid in his class named Eric that he doesn't like (at all). I wonder if that's how he remembers?

This blog is a mixture of our travel adventures and our new family adventures.
The title comes from a dumb blonde high school girl on a tour with us in Versailles who asked this question in every single room of the Palace.

Ares Loves to Eat!
Two nights ago, I had Ares pick out what we ate for dinner. I assumed (correctly) that he would pick something easy to make, which made me happy, because I was a little tired. His choice was:
We cut the lettuce up, and I got him some croutons for his salad. His favorite dressing right now is Ranch, so I started pouring the dressing. It didn't come out very well, so I started shaking the container and squeezing it. Ares looks at me and states "Mom, it's coming, you just have to have patience." and then "Be more patient mom!" when I was still squeezing the container, haha.

Yesterday, Adam had to stay home to watch Ares because Aunt Cindy couldn't. He made a fabulous dinner of BBQ Ribs, corn on the cob (or, cob on the corn, as Ares called it once, haha) and home made garlic cheddar mashed potatoes. It was delicious, but I was worried at first, because Ares doesn't like BBQ sauce. (Which he stated many times after Adam doused all 3 half racks of ribs with it. I (genius) told him that he doesn't like BBQ chicken that BBQ ribs he'll like. Plus, you're allowed to eat with your fingers and get ALL messy!) Well, that seems to have worked. A few ribs, 2 corn on the cobs and 2 helpings of mashed potatoes, and he didn't even ask for a snack after dinner. Good eatin' kid!
- Salads
- Disney Princess Chicken Noodle soup
- Macaroni and Cheese

Family Weekend
What a fabulous family weekend we had. It started out with Adam helping Justice and Katie move from their apartment (which was horrible) to my parents' house. They're house hunting now, but they needed out of that apartment complex immediately. Ares and I watched some old movies with mom while we waited for the truck to come (we waited almost 5 hours.) The movies were of our Europe trip, back when I mistakenly dyed my hair a strawberry blond while in college one semester. Note: I do NOT look good with that color! Anyhow, Ares thought it was awesome that I had the same color hair as him.
Saturday was pretty lazy, until we went to the Lake Erie Monsters hockey game. It was a great time (free tickets compliments of the Cleveland Clinic). Ares and Adam got popcorn, I got nachos, we shared a lemonade and the best part, parking was only $5! On a Saturday night, in downtown Cleveland! One block from the Q! It was awesome, and, the only reason we bought food. I got out of Cleveland spending $20 only, amazing! We were stuck in some awful traffic getting there, but we managed to get there in time for face painting and hair coloring. (If you say "dyeing" the kid goes ballistic saying his hair isn't "dead".) He chose a monster for his face and black as his hair dye. Usually he does red yellow and blue. Black it is, kid, whatever you want.
Sunday, we had no plans, so we got up and went sled riding after Adam's soccer game. It was the first time on a big hill for Ares, (we went in our backyard last year and the prior year). He went down once with Adam, then once with me, and then he accidentally pushed himself down the hill (backwards) while he was waiting for one of us to get in with him. I was scared for him, he absolutely loved it, he giggled and laughed the whole way down. Adam went down after him (it's a big hill) and Ares insisted on walking up the hill, carrying the big sled alone, with no help. Crazy independent kid. Anyhow, he went down by himself that next ride as well (facing forward this time). We were there for an hour and a half, we had the hill to ourselves and Ares did NOT want to leave.
Something we learned this week: Ares does NOT need to actually eat the peanut butter to get a reaction. He was feeding Ballpark PB on a spoon (about 1/4 teaspoon), he never touched it, and here's what we got: =(

That guy should be put to death, in my opinion. Ruined a very meticulously planned vacation to India for a wedding of a friend. See our first blog post ever here, and more here, here and here for posts regarding our India trip (or, lack thereof) - and, just for fun, a recap with pictures of the beautiful bride.

Fun and Games
First - this weekend, I had ENERGY! OK, that's a lie, Saturday I may have moved from the couch 10 times the entire day - no joke (and one of those times was to go out and get some ice cream). But on Sunday, Sunday! I had more energy than Adam. It could be that we were both moving on fumes, as we slept 3 hours (3.5 for me) Saturday night. The good news, is our house made it through the wind storm (other houses in our development lost siding or molding from their houses) and our patio furniture made it unscathed as well (even though I was retrieving some of it from our neighbors yard at 3:30 AM). But I went grocery shopping (2 stores) to a Thirty-One party, socialized all afternoon, and played with Ares all evening.
**And since this post is already superlong, I might as well add in that while I was at the party, Adam put away all groceries, rearranged our kitchen pantry and organized the cabinet that holds paperplates/glasses/napkins for our parties that we have so often. I can't reach the cabinet, so I literally pull things from the bottom, and then throw it up top and close the doors fast before it slides out on my head. Go Husband, you RoCk!! **
I introduced Ares to Candyland and Chutes and Ladders on Friday evening while it was Adam's late night at work. I was worried that he wasn't old enough to understand the games yet, but he is! Candyland he did awesome. He moved the pieces the perfect amount of spaces, if he got one of the 'food' cards, he'd pretend his game piece would eat it, and then find it on the map. Even if it was at the very bottom, he didn't worry about it. We played 3 times this weekend, he won twice, I won once, and it was a lot of fun, not once did he complain about a bad move, me going ahead, or even me winning. I thoroughly enjoyed playing with him.
--By the way, has anyone noticed that the game board has changed? I've found a website that shows the two - and does a great comparison. Click the 'Source' link below the picture. The new one is much busier, more candy/sweets, and all characters have gotten thinner and sexier. Interesting. On the plus side, now, the Candyland and Chutes and Ladders games are the same size, which will make a future Pinterest project I want to do easier.
Chutes and Ladders was pretty good too. Even when he was at the tippee top of the game board, and he hit the loooonngest slide to the bottom, he put his character piece on the slide, and went 'wheeeee' all the way down, while I won within the next handful of spins. No tears, no pouting, just good fun. This game isn't as good for 3 years olds, as he doesn't know which direction to move the pieces, since the board goes right to left, then left to right, then right to left with no real path (to him).

I think board games are awesome at this stage in life. It's the one time that he really has my complete attention. I can't check my email, cook dinner, pick up around the house, if I'm playing a board game with him, that's all I'm doing. Lately I feel like I've been multi-tasking my kid. Even while giving him a bath or shower, he does it all himself, I just sit in or near the room and put clothes away or read a magazine or something. If we're playing cars, all I do is either let him use my legs and stomach as a road (as I read or do something else) or I drive my hot wheels car back and forth over the same path that I can reach. Maybe because I've been sick, or maybe it's because I'm still early in my pregnancy, but Ares hasn't gotten much of my full attention in what seems like ages.
Case in point, he's taking a bath in my bathtub (which, I told him he can only do if he 'disinfects' the tub when he's done - you'd have thought I told him tomorrow was his birthday, he was so excited to clean my bathtub, just like he loves to disinfect his picnic table), but I'm reading Facebook on my phone, with my feet up on the side of the tub, and all of a sudden, Ares yells "OH NO!! A SHARK!" I look up, to this:

C'mon!!
Ares hasn't watched TV in the car since Christmas time, not because he's grounded from it, but because I keep forgetting to put it back in the car, so this morning, I remember to grab it, I plug it in to the lighter area in the car and give him the DVD player. (He knows how to turn it on and everything.) I start driving, and about a half mile down the road, I hear: "C'mon damn-it!!" Yikes, he really is my son.
Ares: But mommy, you say that all the time.
Me: Yes, I do, and I shouldn't. You can yell at me if you hear me say that.
Ares: And when daddy says it, I can yell at him too?
Ares: But mommy, you say that all the time.
Me: Yes, I do, and I shouldn't. You can yell at me if you hear me say that.

MLK I Learned That!
Ares: I want to get the mail!!
Me: Not today, there's no mail today.
Ares: Why?
Me: Because it's Martin Luther King Day, there's no mail , it's a Holiday.
Ares: I learned that!
Me: About Martin Luther King?
Ares: Yes!
Me: What did you learn?
Ares: He..... was... a guy....
Me: Yes?
Ares: Aaaannnd... he.... uhm... liked.... other people!
Me: Did he do anything?
Ares: Uhm, no... nothing. I'm famous, like him though.
Me: Oh?
Ares: Yes, everyone knows me.
Me: What did Martin Luther King do? Did he help anyone?
Ares:.....
Me: Did he make it so black people can go into restaurants?
Ares: Yeah, and so they can go home. So they can drive in cars.
Me: Ok, so you didn't listen or learn anything in class then?
Ares: No mommy, you're not telling the truth.
In other news, I looked at his notebook from school, and he unofficially has the worst handwriting of any of his classmates. It's bad. You can't even tell what he traces, aside from what he's tracing is still there. The other kids' tracing? Perfect - or near perfect. Ugh. he's going to be like his daddy, and uncle, and mommy. But at least what I write is legible.

2nd Trimester!
Whoo Hoo!! I'm in my 2nd trimester now. I was here thinking about how LOOOONG it's been, and here's why:
- I didn't tell anyone I was expecting until I was about 13 weeks. That would have been last week only. It's nice that everyone knows now, but it feels like I should be farther along
- I've been sick. So sick. Not with morning sickness, (thank goodness) but between the flu for a couple of weeks, and this cold I've had for a couple of weeks, it's killing me.
- I am 14 weeks pregnant, but I didn't know I was pregnant until I was 6 weeks, so I've known I've been pregnant for 8 weeks.
- Of those 8 weeks, I've been sick for 4 of them. Two weeks flu, 2 weeks a cold.
- This cold is the worst. It's been 2 weeks now, and I'm actually the worst yesterday and today than I was the first week and a half that I've had this damned thing.
When will this cold go away?!?!
In other news, I got results back from the genetic testing. The baby went from the normal odds of 1/380 of having down syndrome (typical odds without any testing) to 1/10,000. Same thing with the chromosome18 test, down to 1/10,000. So hopefully this means we'll have a healthy baby.
I'm super excited for this weekend. All I want to do is SLEEP!

Refi!
We refinanced the house yesterday! Woohoo! In 30 years and 1 short month, we will officially own our house, haha. March 2043 I think it is, I'm so excited! That's right around the time it'll be for us to retire, hehehe.
Ares, as we're driving home from school: Mom, I want pizza for dinner tonight. Can we have pizza? Or steak. If you don't want to make pizza, you can make steak.
Ares, as we're driving home from Aunt Cindy's yesterday: Mom, I have my iPad (Nabi) but I want to watch TV, not play games.
Me: There's no TV on there, it only has games and puzzles.
Ares: No mom, there's TV on here.
Me: Grandma's iPad has movies and TV on it, but yours doesn't.
Ares: Yes, mine has Cartoon Network on it. It's right here *pointing*
--The kid was right - but I made him trace his letters anyway. I'm a mean mom.

Officially Unoffocial
We decided to do the genetic testing for the baby this time. We figure, we might as well know if something was up, not that we'd change the pregnancy, but we'd be prepared, that seems to be the theme with this kid. No trips to India, no waiting to learn the gender for the birth, preparedness. Well, turns out, (with the blood test not coming in yet) that the baby is all clear (as much as the test can tell). I called the insurance company to ensure that it's covered, and Claudia told me it was, so we figured we may as well do it.
We got a due date of 7/18/13 for baby Miller #2. =) I was thinking it was going to be later, so I'm excited that it's not. (Since my brother and Katie are getting married on 7/27/13.) That gives me about 9 days to recuperate after the baby is born, assuming he/she isn't late (Ares was 4 days late). I'll still look like crap, but a lot of the ickiness might be gone. (yay, TMI, I know).
It was too soon to tell the gender, which is a bummer, so we'll have to wait until the real ultrasound which is probably in 4-6 weeks. The baby was moving a lot at the start of the ultrasound, it was hard to measure and to see the fold of skin in the neck. It's head was up, then down, on the right side, then on the left, it was tumbling all around - and then it stopped. The baby must have fallen asleep (at which point I started getting a little jealous) but in the wrong position. I had to cough, and the technician pushed and pulled and pressed to try and get that sucker to move, but to no avail. At least the doctor ended up saying the pictures were good enough for him to tell that there's a low probability of there being one of the things they test for.
So I am officially unofficially due on July 18, 2013 with baby -currently-unknown-gender Miller. It might be a good thing I don't know the gender yet. If it's a girl, then I probably would have gotten an outfit or two at Target yesterday, although, if it's a boy (which is where my guess is) I'd have started to wash and sort through the baby clothes I have in storage already.

Exhausted every day - still.

A Tropical Weekend
In more ways than one! I feel like I've written a number of "unusually warm" weather posts, and this one doesn't disappoint. This was the first year that our Luau didn't have LOTS of snow around. In fact, although a few days before hand we had about 18" of snow outside, a few days of rain and 60* weather made it all melt. So much, that the guys all were outside on the patio socializing while Adam was grilling the burgers and dogs.
My inlaws came in Friday night, and Leah (Adam's sister) came up on Saturday, and they helped us shop and set up for the party. I am so grateful that they were there, because I'm in this horrific exhausted-all-the-time-first-trimester-pregnancy stage. Ugh, I cannot get enough naps in a day. They also helped clean up, which again, I'm EXTREMELY grateful for. I can honestly say, I didn't pull my weight this year.

| my baby brother and our tiki =) |
Ares had a lot of fun, of course he did, the exact friends that we invite to his birthday parties were here, Davis, Colt, Lukas, Koa, Connor, Hanna, Anna and Cassie. I got to meet baby Zach finally, and Kanani once again, of course, I'm sick (again) so I wasn't able to play or hold either of them, but they're both super cute! Kanani just turned 5 months, and is almost crawling, seriously, a few more days/weeks, and she's going to be mobile, poor Cristal and Paul!
We had 45 people in the house altogether. Friends, family, friends of family... The house was full, but since the basement has most toys now, and people can congregate down there, in the (new) dining room, kitchen, morning room and living room, we were doing pretty well, I think. The house did get warm, and opening the windows didn't do too much since it was over 60* outside. Crazy!!
All in all, there were lots of people, lots of food, LOTS of beer and just a great atmosphere. Thanks for everyone who came, we had an amazing time, and I found out just how many toys Ares has that needs thrown away. Need to buy/build a toy box for Ares' massive amounts of cars, and more square totes for other various toys. Now the Holidays are finally over for us! Next year - it'll be even more crazy with a baby in tow!

Poor Ares - Poor Mommy
Ares woke up four (4!!) times last night with charlie horses in his calf. Four times that poor kid had knots/cramps that only mommy (lies, a hot washcloth) would fix.
If only daddy would a) wake up during these episodes and b)wouldn't just run in there yelling at him to quiet down, life would be slightly easier, and I might not look/feel like crap this morning. Adam had a quad cramp last night, and two nights ago I had a horrific charlie horse. Maybe it's something in the water - or maybe there's not enough something in the water.

The Radio IS Off!
I just realized, I'm one of those bloggers, who checks other peoples' blogs a few times a day, to see if they've updated (even if they already have) but fails to update my own blog.
I just have nothing interesting going on, and that last post was so funny, I think everyone should read it again. I mean, really? Putting something in your nose expecting it to come out of your ear?! Only a three year old. That's why I haven't updated in a few days - yeah, so you can all read that funny post a few times while looking for a new post.
Random (fairly usual) morning in the Miller household:
This morning, Ares wakes up, and runs downstairs, Adam and I were both still in bed, and we thought we'd try and sleep a little bit longer. He runs back upstairs (slightly worried) whispering "mommy? are you upstairs?" So we told him we were still in bed, and he happily jumps up and joins us. He says that he slept well, and he dreamt about 'staying home today', and then asked for a banana because he and Adam had talked about breakfast, last night. I told him he has to wait for everyone to go downstairs.
Ares: But it's time now! I looked at my clock, the "7" is on the left! It's wake up time!
Me: The seven means that you can get up, but you don't have to. You can sleep past the 7 if you want to. (It was about 7:25, the alarm was set for 7:30). Why don't you go downstairs and see if you can get the banana by yourself. (Note, he's not allowed out of bed until 7AM, fortunately he's usually sleeping well past then.)
Ares: I can't reach
Me: Grab a chair.
**Off he goes downstairs, we hear the scraping of a chair (maybe 1", not far) and then him running upstairs again to crawl into our bed.** (7:26)
Ares: I can't reach it, I'll wait for you.
Me: OK, well, daddy and I are going to sleep until you hear the radio go off. So be quiet until then.
Ares: OK.......
Ares: But mom, the radio isn't on, how can it go off? (7:27)
Me: It hasn't gone off.... I mean, you need to wait for the radio to come on, then it's time for everyone to get up.
Ares: OK....
**hitting himself in the ear over and over**
Me: OMG, what are you doing?
Ares: I'm making sounds in my ears.
Me: Lay down, and please be quiet. For two minutes, until you hear the alarm go off. (7:28)
Ares: Okay.
**I close my eyes**
**Something keeps banging into my side**
Me: *eyes still closed** Ares, what are you doing? (7:29)
Ares: I'm clapping my feet. See, I have socks on, so it's quiet, I'm not making any noise.
**Feet clapping continues**
Me: Ares, stop clapping! Stop moving, close your eyes, be quiet.
Ares: Hey, I hear music! Time for everyone to get up!
That all being said - I'm SOOOOO grateful that this all happens after 7, and not around 5 when many-a-toddlers wake up. Ares has never been a morning person. It's only gotten better since he's started to understand how a clock and numbers work.
Magic
Adam gets home from work:
Ares: Daddy!!! I tried to do magic today at school today!! *quietly* but it didn't work.
Pre-curser to that conversation;
Chrissy Facebook's me (yes, that's a verb today) to tell me that Ares had a crayon up his nose and was a bit hysterical, she got Ms.Whitney to help, Davis was somehow involved.
So I get to school, and find out it's a long bead that he put into his nose to show Davis a magic trick. Davis, the best friend that he is, tried to help Ares pick his nose and get it out, to no avail. Only true friends help each other pick their noses. He tells me that it only takes two hard
blows to get it out into the kleenex, then he proceeds (sans kleenex) to show me how he blew it out. Thank goodness his nose was completely clear.
I talk to Eileen (the director) at the school, and she says the 'reason' he did it was hilarious. All the teachers were laughing. He thought it would come out of his ear. Apparently, he was trying to do the magic trick that Adam does where he puts the straw up his nose and it comes out of his ear. A trick, not real.
continuing the conversation:
Adam: That's because you forgot the woofoo dust. Only knomes make the dust. You need to shake them and collect the dust.
**OMG, this kid is going to go yard to yard looking for garden knomes to shake for woofoo dust.**

A Rough Couple of Days
These past few days have been awesome and terrible at the same time. The news of our pregnancy is out! Hooray! But I can't post the fun way we told family on the blog, because I am unable to upload pictures right now. Booo!
Ares has been very odd lately. He's had a few bruises last week, but nothing really to call home about. Then, his teacher was telling me about some bruises on his arm. I assumed she was talking about the ones I had seen previously, but when I got home, she was definitely talking about 4 fingers that looked like he was grabbed. You could tell exactly where the fingers started and stopped. I put my hand on it to see if it were a child's or adults. My hands are tiny, (I wear a size XS women's glove), and it's definitely a child's hand. Is it possible, with a 3.5 year old to have a kid grab you that hard, but not tattle? I don't think so. He doesn't remember it happening. Then, yesterday morning, he woke up with a half dollar sized bruise just above his hip. Same thing, he has no idea where he got it. These bruises are added to the typical forearm and shin bruises that he seems to always have (from crawling around, up stairs, jumping off of couches, etc)
He's eating normal, and sleeping normal, but MAN, he sure is not acting normal. He's been so defiant lately. He'll argue any little point, 'no, the sun is green, not yellow', yell at us 'mom, you're not listening to me!', not listen to us, and just be mean. We went to dinner with Davis, Devon and Darah Saturday night (our fault for skipping his nap due to some birthday parties), but we had to take him outside for a talk twice, once I took him to the ladies room to give him a good talking to, and still, he was acting terrible. He was so mean to Davis, even when Davis would be nice back. He was always wanting to switch seats, crying a lot, not sharing, wanting other people's stuff, then when he gets it, not wanting it and throwing it back, running around the restaurant, being loud, crying a lot (I know I've said that once already, but man). If we weren't with other people, we'd have taken the food to go. It was so embarrassing. The sushi was fabulous, but I didn't enjoy the meal AT.ALL. Nothing like spending $100 on dinner and not enjoying a single minute of it. We've never been that family in the restaurant. He is usually SOO well behaved. It.was.terrible.
And last but not least in this post that has totally changed from what I was originally talking about - Adam. Oh. Em. Gee. If this guy doesn't get a job that he likes, he's going to self destruct. It's already starting to happen, it's terrible, it's awful, it's bad. It's getting to the point of where he was while he was teaching, except, now we have me (a preggo who has the patience of dog who just saw a squirrel) and Ares, who doesn't understand why daddy is almost always in a bad mood.
Hopefully this week is easier- but I know better. Adam works until 8PM Wednesday night and Thursday night. Rather than being scheduled for 40 hours a week, they're scheduled for 43 hours a week. It's fabulous, not only does he hate his job, but he skips lunch (so add an extra 5 hours), works at home on nights and weekends, and is in the office for 48 hours a week. Put together a resume? Oh no, don't even think to bring it up, because 'I have no marketable skills'. Nothing like a Claims department to tear you down so you never leave. At least the military builds you up after they tear you down. (No, he's not the only person feeling this way. The entire state of Ohio is about to revolt, including the managers with their new 'Pilot Program' that the company has no plans to end.
So here's to a more manageable week for everyone! Phew - I need a nap, *grin*.

Blubber
Or brother, however Ares wants to pronounce it. Here's what he did at school today:
I put my hand in ice water today, with 'Brother' and it was sooo warm! When you touch it with 'brother', it isn't cold. 'Brother' makes you warm. I didn't even feel the ice! **Hands up in the air with a shocked look on his face** It wasn't even cold!
(Blubber? I've never felt blubber before, what does blubber feel like?) Well you can feel 'brother' if you go to my school. It feels like something squishy in your mouth, but you can't put it in your mouth, but it's something like that.
(Who has blubber Ares?) A back hump whale, and hump black whale, uhm, a uhm, hump-back whale does! They live in the deep blue sea. They are baby belugas and there are sharks in there, and tiny weeny things, and what they eat are those little tiny orange things, but I don't know what they're called.
Can I watch TV now?

2013! - Updated with Pics
I told Ares it was 2013 now, and he was excited becaues "that is my favorite number!". hahaha. I doubt he's ever heard that number before. That was a few days ago. Yesterday, Grandma Venus got him a Captain America outfit that he wouldn't take off. He was so excited about this costume that all of a sudden "Captain America is my favorite!" when I asked him about the Hulk, "That's my favorite too, Hulk Smash!!" Ask him who his favorite Ninja Turtle is "They're all my favorite!!" Last night we had spaghetti for dinner "My favorite!" and we had vanilla milkshakes (even though he asked for chocolate), however, once he took a sip "navilla is my favorite!"
He got his wall tracks up in the basement now. It's so fabulous having a kid that's old enough to go down there and play by himself. He usually wants us down there with him, which makes sense, but he'll still play by himself for a half hour at a time. We were able to cook all of dinner while he played - yay. Anyhow, his new tracks are "my favorite!". (Blogger won't let me post videos right now.)
I took him to Subway the other day (Sorry, 'Subway eat Fresh!') and let him pick out his own sandwich. Here's what he chose. Wheat bread, salami, pepperoni, 'a little bit' of lettuce, 'a little bit' of banana peppers, A LOT of pickles, yellow mustard and 'purple onions' (red onions) on the side. (OK, apparently I can't post pictures either today.)
We had a nice last minute party at our house. The Gallos, Johnsons and Kirbawy's all came over. All of the kids got along GREAT, which was awesome. Little Erin ran around like she's one of the boys, and Ares took care of her by getting her her own glass of water, sharing his chicken nuggets, and making sure he knew where she was when we didn't see her (she's not quite 2 yet). He's so sweet. Just the other day, he called me 'fat'. hahaha. Wait until he sees me in 5 months!! (shhhh)
So here's to an awesome '13! My favorite number =)
