Hall of mirrors

This blog is a mixture of our travel adventures and our new family adventures.
The title comes from a dumb blonde high school girl on a tour with us in Versailles who asked this question in every single room of the Palace.
The picture was taken while on our Honeymoon in China, on the Xian river.

Happy First Birthday Party!

We started the day off with lunch. However, it was too soon to do cake, as Ares was no longer hungry. He was NOT happy with everyone staring at him with food in front of him. He licked the icing, and was finished.....

So we moved on to presents. He was happier here, as less people were watching him. We asked for no toys, so he got some books (ALWAYS welcome), clothes (the next size up, awesome!) and Bonds (VERY cool!). Most books and clothes all had dinosaurs on them! Neat!

After we opened presents (and by "we", I meant "me" because he got a dinosaur toy, and then his infatuation with cards took over) we tried the cake thing again. This time with SUCCESS!!!

Wow, this stuff is messy!

But it's still pretty good.

I think I might be finished now.

Teehee, just kidding, I'll have some more!

I'm still waiting on other pictures, pictures of Ares with his grandparents and great grandparents. We had LOTS of great people at the party, and Great Grandma/Papa and Grandma/Grandpa came up from Cinci to celebrate with us!

Adam had been wanting to do this picture for months now. He finally figured out how to set the camera up, and after teaching him how to use GIMP he put all 3 images together. What a great job, and when printing the picture on an 8x10, looks spectacular!

Ballpark has a name change

I prefer calling "Ballpark" "Turkey Club" now. Adam calls him "Subway". The damned dog ate my entire Subway sandwich! The darned sandwich was nearly as big as he was and wrapped up! Poor dog was bloated and fat the rest of the day. He ate it all, Bread (the good herb and cheese kind), turkey, cheese, lettuce, tomato, pickle, banana pepper with a light mayo. Stupid doggie. He was nice enough to leave me the paper and some lettuce.

Sorry I haven't been updating more on here. A lot is going on I just can't publicize it yet. *fingers crossed!*

No. More. MOHAWK! =)

If I only knew taking Ares to get a hair cut would eliminate the Mohawk! I thought that even shorter, it would still be a Mohawk, but no! I have a little boy who is sooo adorable! No more white trash kid! =) I can't wait to take a pic, but he was so good.
The girl put him on the chair all by himself and he just looked at me, and in the mirror. He thought it was so fun when she started pumping the hydraulic chair up so that he got taller. Then she put a penguin smock on him (his favorite animal) so between looking at me, the mirror, and the smock, 10 minutes later, he was done! He thought the trimmer thing tickled a bit, but other than lifting his shoulders and giggling, it didn't matter. We got a card with some locks taped to it. You can barely see it though because he is SOO blond!
I think I am finally getting better. I had the worst "cold" of my life. After 11 days, it wasn't getting better. The doctor told me that it was just a cold, but he still wrote me a 'script for an antibiotic just in case it didn't go away in another week. After 5 days, I was getting worse, and decided to fill the script, and 18 hours later, I can breathe, and a lot of the ucky other crap is gone =) *phew*

Doofus

I'm such a doofus, I transferred all of the files from my camera card to a folder, took a few more pictures, posted them here on the blow (those 3 pics below) and then deleted all of the pictures off of my card. This means, those 3 pics below (some of my favorites) are lost. forever. I uploaded the pics from Facebook, so if i try to print them, they look terrible. Such a bummer!

Lets see, we're putting our house up for sale, went to the Cav's game (vs the Celtics!! yay!), I stained some of Ares Ikea furniture (book shelf and stool) and have done lots of laundry. Adam's still running (16 miles on Saturday) and is still in school.

Ares had an ear infection coming, good thing we caught it early, he was only miserable for 1 day and 3 nights. He's been amazing at school, and he is a dare devil at home. Our dog ALWAYS sleeps on the floor in his dog bed now, it's amazing, he doesn't complain any more, and my side of the garage is filled with furniture we're waiting to move/sell so I have to park outside. At least it's starting to get slightly warmer and I don't have to scrape the windshield.
Other than that, nothing exciting is going on. Sorry I have no pics to upload.

Fun stuff!

Oops, never posted this one =0

These past few days, Ares has been amazing. He has been the most fun kid in the entire world! We have kept him up past 8pm even, because we play all evening long (and so we can all eat together). He LOVES balls and anything that rolls - oh, and things that have strings. One of his shoes is a favorite of his.

We had a dinner of champions the other day for Ares, cold green beans (by the handful, no less) and some tube of sweet potato/apple/something or other baby food. We ate standing in the kitchen, after he had his share of green beans (he prefers them cold), I squeezed the baby food tube/pouch thing right into his mouth. (You're supposed to squeeze it into a bowl and spoon feed it, it was much more fun for the both of us this way).

I still haven't unpacked our dresser drawers, let alone started moving the mass number of furniture out of our bedroom. vacuum? HA! Oy Vey, I've got a busy few days ahead of me.

Hope Ya'll have a good day!

a whole lotta nothin'

Not too much going on in the Miller household lately. We are very excited that we used our tax rebate to buy a new bedroom set, but I hadn't completed our taxes yet. I went back to electronically file them, and after a couple of updates on Turbo Tax, we got another $1200! Wahoo!

This is great news, as Adam and I have decided to start looking at houses again, kind of. We found a beautiful house that was foreclosed on. Unfortunately, the bank was able to buy it back at an awesome price. If we would have known it was available last month, we would have tried for it ourselves. I'm not sure what our next step is, but it's exciting none-the-less.

I've still been under the weather for the past 4 or 5 days. I'm not entirely sure what my issue is... but.. blah. Ares has been the most amazing kid recently. He had food poisoning and was violently ill Friday night, but then Saturday morning came, and he was the happiest, most fun baby ever. We have had the best past few days, which is great, because I haven't been up to par.

Adam's still trying to do his school thing. I'm counting the minutes until he is finished. Life will be so much easier when he's done. He is completely miserable - and making everyone else too. He has gotten to the 12 mile mark in his marathon training, and is going to start cycle training once the weather gets better. I can't wait until the weekend after mother's day! It will all be finished! (Other than the 5k I agreed to run.)
