Mommy and Me weekend

This weekend Adam and his boys left to complete the Spartan run, so I had both boys by myself.  I will not lie, I was dreading it. Friday night Atlas slept for 12.5 straight hours, Ares got up twice, however.  I must say, though, on Saturday both boys were fantastic. They were fun, well behaved and we had a great day . Ares started with soccer practice and like I said last time it's amazing what a year does. He's playing better, more fun to watch and I think he enjoys it even more. We came home and put Atlas down for a nap, so Ares and I played and read books then we all went out to lunch. In the afternoon, they both behaved so well before we went to Grandma's house for dinner. I left Ares there to come home for book club. Atlas was in bed by 7:15, woke up a few times for the pacifier, but did great, overall.   Sunday found us outside all day.  We were in coats and sweatshirts, as the heat wave was south of us, but the sun shined brightly.  Both boys were irritable most of the day, but it was still good overall. 

Easter Morning

We thought that Ares would be a better hunter this year, but unless the eggs were low, he didn't find them.  Pretty bad considering the bunny hid eggs on the wall, in balloons, but he only looks low.  We all still had a great time!  Atlas liked to play with the eggs too! 

 

Soccer Spring 2014

Ares started soccer practice again yesterday.  He is so much more mature than last year.  He stayed on his feet most of the time, ran fast, didn't pout if he wasn't first, he even bragged for another boy who scored two goals. ("The boy who doesn't have a loose tooth scored two points!") No pictures because I was trying to watch and entertain Atlas since Adam couldn't make it. 

Atlas is starting to cut his first tooth.  Yay. I am excited that he'll be able to eat more, however dreading the sleepless nights.  We had three and a half great nights!  I'm spoiled now!  Hahaha.

I love it.  Don't get me wrong, but the exact thing that I've sworn I'd not do again has already happened.  From April through August, we have six days, (DAYS!) In which we don't have plans already made.  Nearly everything are things we want to do, otherwise we'd have turned it down, but wow, craziness. 

Ares has started baseball and soccer for the season already.  His coach for baseball is a bit, uhm, intense.  He's the baseball coach for the high school.  He knows his stuff, and can really handle the hyper active and behavioral problem kids quite well, but he's an asshole.  He only lets the fathers help out,  regardless of if the father protests and says the mother knows more about ball and would rather do it. 
His soccer coach is the same he had last season.  Also great with the kids and a lot of fun.  He's the father of girls who go to Ares and Atlas' school, so it's much more like us.  It's funny how our little bubble in streetsboro is going to pop soon.  The families at our school are very similar.  The families in streetsboro - not so much.  I think this is going to be an awakening- for me. 

Atlas is an amazing kid.  He sleeps all night, for the most part.  7:15-7:15. We love it. He's also happy most other times.  He's off his meds, almost off the prescription formula and we have an appt with his specialist this afternoon. 
He had his 9 month appointment on Monday.  He measures a whopping 29" (75%) and 19lb 15oz (53%) with his head at 35%. Just like Ares, he looks more proportional with the not-large baby head.  Although atlas is both taller and slightly heavier than Ares was at this age (19 lb 4oz and 28").

Adam has been getting ready for his weekend race in Indiana with his buddies and sister. He's so excited, they all have matching shirts, and he asked me to add something to the back with my silhouette. I've been doing a lot of projects lately for other people to bring some extra money in.  I've made about 35$ so far, haha. I don't mark my things up far enough.  MAYBE I can make enough in the future to pay for a house cleaning person to come a couple times a month. 

I'm writing this on my phone.  Hopefully I don't have to many typing errors and I can figure out how to add photos.  Happy spring everyone!

SLEEEEEP!!!!!

 So as my Facebook post from a few days ago stated "F- all those doctors that told me Prevacid doesn't cause insomnia."  Because, two days after we took Atlas off of the medication, he started sleeping.  Two nights in a row he only woke up once, and one night he's woken up twice.  He's gone to sleep closer to 7:00 than 7:30, and will sleep NON STOP until around 4:30, then wake up once and go right back to sleep after a back pat or something.  That's 9.5 straight hours we've gotten a few times!!!  I now feel bad for all of the bad things I've said about Atlas' sleep habits, apparently, it wasn't his fault.  

He's currently sick with a cold, but, as soon as the cold is gone we're going to change out his formula, slowly.   It's so nice to have my fun loving (and now sleeping) child.  I might have said this before, but at times, I feel like I'm meeting him for the first time.  He'll sit and play, he likes to share toys (especially his pacifier, no doubt why he's always getting colds from school).  Ares is so good with him.  When Atlas tries to share his pacifier, Ares will pretend to suck on it for a couple seconds and then give it back.  

Ares got his new bike for his birthday, and is getting better on it as each day goes by.  He loves to play outside, and I'm kind of regretting the house that we bought, because I do not feel comfortable leaving him outside alone due to the road behind the house.  He knows my rules (and follows them very well, so far) but it still makes me nervous.

Adam took him to the track to run the other day.  He can run an entire lap without stopping. That's pretty good!    I wish I could have gone too.  I put Atlas to bed 5 minutes after they left.  Ares was on his second lap by himself (Adam was sprinting) but, in his words (a stranger was coming, so I ran across the field to daddy).

 We went to the Pittsburgh Children's museum and had a GREAT time.   The last time we went they didn't have the water floor open, but this time they did. Thank goodness we were warned to bring clothes for the boys!  I even brought an extra shirt for myself, although it was pants that I really needed.   Water comes out of everywhere! the ceiling, some innocent looking 'trees', and of course, the trough.  Atlas and Ares both loved this part the most.  Ares made lots of friends and built dams in the water, Atlas just splashed and splashed and splashed.  I only wish he was able to stand up by himself, because my back was starting to ache by having to bend over (or squat) to hold him up.   We had to get home early, because I was hosting book club, but we were there for almost 5 hours.  Oh, and both boys got new bicycle helmets!! Yay!

March Update

We're still not entirely sure what sleep is, but we know we're missing it pretty badly.  Yesterday, my mom and I took Atlas back to the specialist (we go every 3 weeks now, it used to be 2.   She meets me up there so she can take Atlas back to school so that I don't miss as much work.)   This time, he told us to start weaning him from his Prevacid and once that's off, to start mixing in some Nutrimagen formula with his Elecare.  The Nutrimagen is about the same price, however, more comes in each container, AND I can use coupons on it, so it ends up a lot nicer.  The catch is, it has soy and dairy broken down, but not as much as his Amino Acid formula.   Fingers crossed that we'll find out in a few weeks that everything is good.    He had a great day today without any meds, although, we've had a bit of a rough night so far (it's 11PM right now).

Ares is OBSESSED with Lego's now. He does quite well with them, and he will just sit at the table and play play play.  Have I mentioned recently that he's a little Adam?   I wonder what Atlas will be like when he's older.

Eve told her mom that she was going to marry Ares 'in 5 days".  I told Ares this,
and he said "but mom, she might find someone better than me someday".
Me: This is true, where did you hear that from?
Him: Or I might find someone better too.  We have a long time to find someone perfect for us.
Me:.....
Him:  You told me that, a long time ago.  Don't you remember?
Me:... Yes! And you're absolutely right!  (I probably did tell him this, although, I sure don't remember.)

He starts soccer and baseball in the next couple of weeks.  He's excited, and I'm a little bit too.  Glad to get back into the outdoors.    Ares got a bicycle for his birthday.  It's pretty cool, I can't wait to get some pictures of it!

Adam loves his new job.  He's very happy to be back in the classroom again- and I'm happy to have him there!  Life is great.

I've just been commissioned to do a vinyl cut out for someone on Facebook.  She wanted two different things.  I charged her $12.  Probably not enough, but ah well.  I'm not really in it to make a lot of money, just to pay for the vinyl.  Hopefully I can get some more freezer paper shirts together for the boys.  I need to make some OSU Buckeye shirts, and something else fun.  We'll see.

I got my hair cut two weeks ago.  I absolutely LOVE it.

I'm pretty happy with these.  To be honest, I thought by the time they took the photos, Ares would be all wrinkled, and Atlas would be in tears, or have food all over, or both.

Ares looks excellent in jeans, a button down shirt and a tie.  This kid is soo much like his daddy it scares me,  haha.   One things for sure, I sure think I have the best looking kids around!!

I consider this a success.  Again, as with any picture that is sideways, I have NO idea how to flip it in this program.  Sorry for everyone who has to turn their head left and right because I can't figure this out, haha!!
