Hall of mirrors
This blog is a mixture of our travel adventures and our new family adventures.
The title comes from a dumb blonde high school girl on a tour with us in Versailles who asked this question in every single room of the Palace.
The picture was taken while on our Honeymoon in China, on the Xian river.

Week after Val-Day
Funny how the past few posts are about Valentines Day. We don't even celebrate! It has been a pretty crappy week. Ares was pretty sick at the beginning of the week, and Adam and I were both terribly sick at the end of the week. The flu. Again. (Why did I get that flu shot?!?) We both took Thursday off of work, I took Friday off, there was no way I would get back to the office. Adam went in, but was sent home by his manager half way through the day. At least both days Ares was healthy enough to go to school, so we just took lots of naps and watched the Olympics.
By Saturday morning, we both felt weak, but much better, so we went furniture shopping. We blew our entire tax rebate on a new master bedroom set. I hated our water bed, and Adam finally mentioned that he wanted a new bed, so we went out, and WOW! Solid Kincaid bedroom set. This set will be passed down to my grand-children. Thanks to my parents for watching Ares a little longer than the "two hours" I thought it would take (more like 6) Kincaid

After we got our furniture, we took Ares sled riding again. He had a great time, other than when he fell flipped, he cried for about 3 seconds, but when we started pulling him up the hill again, he laughed and was fine.
Happy Valentines Day!
That present is still one of his favorites, and he started playing with it FIVE months ago! What a great gift!
The Valentines weekend was excellent! Ares' school had a Valentines Day party, they all made valentines for the parents and had a valentine exchange. He got a juice box, an odd bag of liquid baby food, cookies, candy, and lots of cool valentines. His "mailbox" was painted very nicely by his fist. Yes, his fist. It seems Ares does not like to get his hands dirty. Every single painting/piece of artwork we get from him, is forcefully done by the teachers dipping his very closed fist into paint, and trying to get it to connect with paper. Haha, he is very much like his Uncle Justice, who was the same way as a child.
A wonderful visit from Grandma & Grandpa! All 4 grandparents and our small family of 3 drove to Lakewood to go to MELT, the best grilled cheese restaurant in the world. We got there 8 minutes after it opened (thanks to Adam "knowing" how to get there) and we had an hour and a half wait. Crazy! It was some good times with my parents and Adam's parents together. (And DUMB me, took no pictures)
That evening, I FINALLY got sushi! I have been craving it since before we got pregnant, and then I couldn't have it, and then I still couldn't, and even when Ares was finally on formula, we just never went. I LOVE SUSHI! Yay for Adam's parents baby sitting. They wore him out so much, he went to bed at 6:15 for the next three nights!

Yaaaaaay *clap clap clap*
I'm not entirely sure why blogspot has changed it's format, but I hate it. I'm sorry if my videos don't work, they have been uploading as texts. Odd
Ares can now stand for about 10-15 seconds at a time. The really funny thing is, when he lets go of whatever he's holding on to, he starts to clap because he's so excited he's standing on his own. Sometimes, I don't see him let go of the furniture, but I know when he's standing because I hear him clap. It's so freakin' cute!
I'm not sure where my time goes, but I've not had time to take pictures, update the blog... or really, do anything other than love my kid.
I'm seriously looking for a new job though. Of course, being in Cleveland really sucks. Some of the most educated people with NO jobs around. Case in point - I have my MBA and am stuck in a job that doesn't even require an undergrad... ugh. At least I have one, I guess. Sometime I'll take a few days off of work to just look for a new job.

Bad skin
It looks like Ares is going to take after the Schmidt side of the family with his dry skin. When he eats, he puts his thumb in his mouth, and now he has a huge gash on his thumb from it drying out and splitting.
We finally got some eczema cream for his back (and neck, and arms and....) so hopefully that will alleviate some of the issues we've been having. Fingers crossed!
So please, until I go out and buy more onesies, he can only wear 100% cotton.

Wheels and beds!
I'm not quite sure why I haven't updated recently. I have some great pics of us at the Aquarium. I'll get those up soon.
Ares is obsessed with anything that rolls. He used to spend hours just pushing a ball around, he actually plays catch too, he'll roll/throw it to us, and want us to roll it back. He'll play like that forever. Now, however, he's into anything that moves. We have a caterpillar on wheels that he got for Christmas, and he will just roll it all around the house. For 1/2 hour. Last night, Adam went grocery shopping on his way home from work, and Ares found a bottle of PowerAid and proceeded to push that around the house for 15 minutes. It's too cute!
This kid is amazing, each and every day he amazes me. His new word? "Ballpark". No kidding. He says "mom" "up" and a version of "ballpark" (which sounds more like "ball-bar") but how crazy is that?!
We had a great time on Saturday down in Cinci. I had thought that Ares was too young for a zoo or the aquarium, but we went down to Newport anyhow, and I'm so glad we did. (Adam wasn't there, it was just Ares, me, and Ares' grandma and grandpa). He LOVED the fish. The big ones were great, because he could follow them, he liked the small ones because there were so many and they moved fast, the turtles were huge (as were the sharks) and his favorite (of course, he's a Theta Phi Alpha's kid) was the penguins. If we let him, he would have stayed there for a long time. He decided that this would be the day that he waved, clapped and (kind of) blew kisses. We ended the day at Johnny Rockets where he proceeded to eat 1/2 of my 1/3lb burger (I'm grateful, otherwise I would have eaten the entire thing!) Stupid thing about the restaurant... NO CHANGING TABLES! Stupid place!
I'll try and upload some pictures this weekend. It's going to be pretty crazy, but hopefully a good one.
Adam mentioned this week about buying a new bed. (I have HATED our bed since the minute he got it), so we're going furniture shopping this weekend. I told him, if we're buying a bed, we're buying an entire bedroom set. I'm very excited, hopefully we find something we like. I figure it'll take our entire tax rebate, because we have to buy a mattress too. No more water bed! Wahoo! out of the 70's and into the... 10's
