Hall of mirrors

This blog is a mixture of our travel adventures and our new family adventures.
The title comes from a dumb blonde high school girl on a tour with us in Versailles who asked this question in every single room of the Palace.
The picture was taken while on our Honeymoon in China, on the Xian river.

T-Ball = Painful

Last night was Ares' first day of T-ball. Let me tell you, it was painful.  First, he didn't want to run with the team around the bases, until the last two times, then he realized it was fun.  Thank GOD his team was up to bat first, he loved that part.  Some things I've learned from watching 3 year olds play T-ball.
  • Kids don't know to run to first after they hit the ball
  • The kids don't know if they are right handed or left handed.  (Right now, 1/2 the team is left.)
  • All kids stand around the pitcher's mound waiting for the ball to get hit into the field and then race towards it in the hopes that they are the person to put the ball on the tee next.  What's first base?
  • Some kids (or maybe just mine) cried when the ball was  hit for the first time and they weren't the first to get it
  • Kids like to sit or lay in the grass when they're not batting
  • Kids don't know they  have to run when the ball is hit, so there's a coach ON every base to push the kid towards the next base and to call the name of the kid (that may or may not be) running to them
  • There may or may not be as many parents on the field as there are kids.  Ares is afraid of everything and mommy needs to be right there
  • Ares may or may  not have liked the large leaf he found better than the game
  • Hands down, snack time was the best part of the evening, in both the parents' and the kids' minds
He says he wants to go back next week, and 'I won't pout this time.' Good!!

Standing around the pitcher's mound, waiting for the ball to be hit.

Snack time!!!

Getting pushed to go to the next base.
He hit pretty well, but definitely hits better with a pitched ball.
