The Indians game was a bust. We didn't get there until the 2nd or 3rd inning because I had to change and feed the baby before we left. Our seats were amazing, and we got to see an inning before the heavy rains came in. We went to the terrace club and had some very expensive soup or salad and very small desserts (except for Aunt Cindy's) and waited out the rain. Since my mom had to work that night, once the rain stopped, we rushed to the car. Good thing, b/c it started raining again! The tribe ended up winning the game after a few delays. I will count that in Ares' record of Indian's games 2-0 now =)
On Friday, my mother and I cooked for 6 straight hours. Adam and I will now have good and healthy meals when neither of us feel like cooking! We had some torrential downpours (where I subsequently kept ALL 4 of my windows down). Then, on my way to my softball game, a vehicle on the highway blew up. It was on the side of the road, on fire (no cops or anything there yet) so I slow down to call 911, and the thing blows up! I felt the heat by my feet, and had to pull over to make sure I didn't need to file a claim on my car, because I was literally next to it when the explosion happened. Another car had already dialed 911, so I hung up, but didn't see anyone who belonged to the vehicle. I hope everyone was OK though.
Saturday morning, while I relaxed at home (or layed on the couch dead because I'm sick), Adam and Ares went to the Hospital to teach Daddy Bootcamp.
Hall of mirrors
This blog is a mixture of our travel adventures and our new family adventures.
The title comes from a dumb blonde high school girl on a tour with us in Versailles who asked this question in every single room of the Palace.
The picture was taken while on our Honeymoon in China, on the Xian river.

Day-Care
Yesterday was Ares' first time at the Young Explorers Montessori School (can you hear the cha-ching sounds?? LOL). I had to go in for some paperwork and an short orientation, so Ares got to play in his room. ("Play" consists of sitting in a bouncer and swing.) This is because he fell asleep in the swing, lol. We were only there for about an hour and a half. When I got back to pick him up, many of the teachers had been there to hold him. I guess the next youngest in the center is 7 months old (and she's HUGE) and a few 10-12 month olds. Ares is literally half the size of all the girls there (no boys yet), so everyone wants to see him. I'm sure the fact that he was all smiles when he was awake doesn't hurt either.
We went back this morning, because tuition includes 2 hours of care before the actual start date. I thought I'd take advantage of that to get some things done around the house, and to get him ready for the noon Indians game today =) More later!

2 Month Checkup
Our little boy is growing up so quickly! At his two month appointment today, he weighed in at 10lb 13oz, and is 23.4" long. His weight to height is not even on the charts, he's so light for his length. The unfortunate thing is that he got lots of shots today. He got pricked 4 times my poor baby. He only cried for a minute though, and then he was such a good boy! Of course, he'll be sore tonight. Go Cavs!!

Happy Memorial Weekend!
We just missed the Memorial Day parade in Twinsburg. It brings back old memories as I marched in the parade every year for 4 years. Three of the years carrying a large bass drum in a hot band uniform.
Our softball team won it's game on Friday I went 3 for 4 with some solid hits. The Cavaliers also won their game. They were up by 23 at one point, and then began to SUCK and started losing. Orlando scored with 1 second left to put the Magic back over the Cavs by two points. Lebron James had a decent game, but no one will remember anything but the last shot. With one second left, Mo Williams (my favorite player) inbounds the ball to Lebron after he tries many times to get open, and he turns and shoots and it gets right in to beat the buzzer. It was amazing! We were listening to the game in the car, and whooped and hollered the last 3 miles home. Then we watched the replay about 3,000 times, (and never got sick of it). They are now calling that "The Shot". Thank goodness, perhaps people will soon forget Michael Jordon's "The Shot" which was against Cleveland so many years ago.
Saturday was a great day also. I had gotten some gift cards to The Gap for Christmas, and since I start work next Monday and I still do not fit in my pre-preggo clothes, I went shopping! Unfortunately, $75 doesn't go very far at the Gap, even with the Memorial Day sales. After that we went to Home Depot to buy another freezer! YAY! Now our freezer in our kitchen can hold more than just milk, and I can start buying bulk meat when it's on sale and store it in the garage freezer! After that we drove to the west side and visited my grandpa and grandma Marion and then to Aunt Di and Uncle Terry's to pick up some bicycles so Adam can fix them and resell them. He fixed up one of the nice bikes for my little cousin, and then we went grocery shopping at Walmart. $350 later(!! I guess not grocery shopping since before Ares came wasn't a good idea), we had two filled fridge/freezers, and no shelf space anywhere in our house. (our file cabinet now holds cereal, hahah!)
Sunday was fun too. We had a family picnic up at the baseball fields across from my parents' house. Great Grandma and Grandpa Schmidt were there as were all of my cousins (that live in town). we played ball, ate lots of food, and soaked up the sun and then Ares stayed overnight at Grandma Venus' house while mommy and daddy went to Mark's house for a picnic and to watch the Cavaliers play awful and lose.
Monday was a day full of buying bikes, selling bikes and fixing bikes. Adam (thankfully) made me go for a jog with our new jogging stroller. Man, am I out of shape! My body was hurting so bad, my tongue hurt! (No, actually, it did!)
More information about the baby tomorrow. His 2 month appointment is at 1. I can't wait to learn how much he weighs and how long/tall he is!!

Go Cavs! (Again!)
Monday was pretty nice. Adam had the day off to recover (and was slightly helpful with the baby). I had gotten up with the baby a few times that night, so Adam let me sleep in until roughly 9, which was really nice. We relaxed a lot, caught up on Greek, and then met some friends and their kids at the Winking Lizards to watch the Cav's game. The Cavs swept the Atlanta Hawks in the semi-finals (or quarter finals??) for playoffs, naturally. We are starting to get pretty confident here in Cleveland, I hope that these boys continue to play well. There's a game room (that consists of 5 games) so we sent the kiddos (ages 2, 7 and 9) to play
games. They played about $30 worth of the claw game, and got many small trinkets, and a large stuffed penguin. The two year old RAN the penguin over to Ares, and gave it to Adam. She was beaming at the fact that they won a gift for the baby. It was adorable! She was so excited, that after she gave it to us, she was just jumping jumping jumping - and beaming! We have plenty of stuffed animals, and we certainly don't need any more, but she was so proud, it was adorable, (plus, it's a penguin, lol). Again, pictures to come soon!
Mother's Day
Again, Mother's Day wasn't ideal for me, as I still had to do everything (dishes, laundry, all diapers, spit up, etc) but it was still a pretty enjoyable day. Ares and I met my parents and Grandmother at the Golden Corral for breakfast. It's a huge buffet place, that we learned, if you get up early enough, you can beat the rush
. (We went a few years ago, and my father and I vowed to never return). Mom worked the night before, so we met after she got off of work and we were nearly the only people there. All of the workers stopped by one by one to see the baby, because our server kept telling everyone how cute he was. HE WAS CUTE! I had him in his button down blue shirt and tie (from Easter), a pair of jeans, and his "new" chucks (that my mom got at a garage sale). Those shoes are my favorite, it's too bad he'll eventually grow out of them.
Since my mom worked the night before and the night of Mother's Day, and Adam was gone, it was pretty much just me and my father. My dad offered to feed and burp the baby (twice!) while I scrap-booked. What a great idea that was! I got a few pages of Ares' baby book in. I have so many pictures, I think it's going to take me YEARS to do
his first month! Crazy!! I only have the first weeks amount of pictures printed up. I got home from my parents' mid afternoon to find another large box from 1-800-flowers. Adam had sent me a dozen pink roses and 6 calla lilies. It's a beautiful bouquet!
Adam got home relatively early (5:30pm). He must have busted his butt to ride 100 miles and drive up from Columbus that early. It was nice to see him, but he slept from 5:30 until the next morning, other than getting up for the pizza that I had ordered for dinner. At least he took Monday off of work!
I wish I had pictures of Mother's Day other than the flowers, Adam took my camera with him on his bike ride so that he could take pictures. I'll have to see if my mom has any from that day. Here, Ballpark is spooning with the baby.

TOSRV
Adam is out of town this weekend doing his 200 mile bikeride from Columbus to Portsmouth and back. He's finished the first 100 miles, and is sleeping over at a high school gymnasium tonight. I really miss him. It's not easy watching a puppy and caring for a 6.5 week old baby all alone. Props to single parents. It's tough - not to mention the fact that I just miss him. I got my first mother's day gift from Ares this year. I thought we were just going to count the patio furniture as my gift, but Ares "stole my credit card and logged online" (according to Adam) and had a beautiful azelia tree delivered. It's about 6" tall, and beautiful. I'm not really a flower person, (I like the way they look, but don't like the fact that they die so quickly) so a tree is a perfect gift! It was a nice surprise.
I had always pictured Mother's Day as sleeping in, breakfast in bed and then a family day. I guess I will never have a Mother's Day like that as TOSRV is always this weekend. I guess it'll be like when my brother and I hit the high school age and were always out of town on Mother's Day. I am looking forward to Adam getting home tomorrow, even if it is going to be late. He also has Monday off of work to recover, so hopefully we can spend some time together before the Cav's game.

Short
While I lay here listening to Ares scream through the monitor (he doesn't want to fall asleep), I thought I would tell everyone that Ares slept for over 8 hours last night- straight! What a marvelous baby. *sigh* back to the crying....

Is there a return policy?
Alright, so the title of this post is a little harsh. We had the WORST day ever yesterday. By far, I don't know who the child in my house was! It started when he refused to sleep Monday night. He woke up so many times, it was a vast change from Sunday night where he gave us 7 hours of uninterrupted sleep. He took one half hour nap the entire day. I took him to visit my coworkers, where he was good, but VERY fussy. Once we got home, he cried non stop for about 6 hours, it was very frustrating. The doctor didn't return my calls until this morning! To make matters worse, there was projectile spit up, which ruined many of my clothes and robe and all of his outfits for the day, not to mention the diaper blow out we had that got all over his beautiful swing. It's washable, but to take the cover off to wash it takes a long time. Ah well, TODAY is a good day so far. I hope it continues that way, it is only 10am. But so far, he has been such a pleasure to have around!
He's out of his newborn sized clothes, and out of NB sized diapers too! He's growing so much! Today I had to put him in one of my favorite outfits for one last time. Then it's time to box them up, and on to 0-3 and 3 month clothes! WOW!
