Hall of mirrors
This blog is a mixture of our travel adventures and our new family adventures.
The title comes from a dumb blonde high school girl on a tour with us in Versailles who asked this question in every single room of the Palace.
The picture was taken while on our Honeymoon in China, on the Xian river.

Final Update
We have sent them walking. They didn't budge on their offer (aside from not needing the window blinds and stuff, but those were staying anyway). I guess our house was the second house that they wanted to get for nothing, and we're the second house to deny them. Funny thing is, she's bidding on our next door neighbor's house now. She may get it super low, because the neighbor has already moved out and is really hurting for money, but, she has a 1 car garage, had a ton of cats (this girl is terribly allergic) and has no finished basement. Let's see how this one goes for her! lol
House Update2
So we got a bid yesterday evening. I guess they sent the offer in before they even viewed the residence for the second time. Found out the girl who wants to buy is is a 2009 undergrad from Dartmouth. Ivy League. Her mommy is an attorney. I guess they do things differently in Virginia as they asked for everything under the sun:
-an EXTREMELY low offer
-all closing costs paid
-extra inspections (at our expense)
-refridgerator
-washer and dryer
-fireplace logs (those were going to stay anyhow)
-all window furnishings (also meant to stay)
-all appliances sanitized
-all carpet sanitized
-all walls painted (house was painted w/in the past 2.5 years)
SO we countered (and were pretty generous) and she countered by just increasing her offer by $2k. Lol. I have a feeling she can't afford our house. So we countered with the lowest amount we'll take. Haven't heard back yet from them, but a 22 year old single girl probably can't afford it. Although, she DID go to an ivy league school, and some company must have paid her enough to move to Cleveland, OH. So we'll see
Off to Chicago tomorrow to run a 5k. I am not excited, I hate running, and thus far I haven't been able to run more than 1.25 miles =/.

15 Month Update
Since Ares' doctor is going out of town for the next two weeks, we got him in early for his 15 month appointment, because I really like his doctor.
22lbs 13 oz
31" exactly
11 teeth, 3 of them molars.
this kid eats everything still (except ground beef) - but not always when you want him too. Example: some days he just wants to dip things in ketchup or BBQ sauce and we can be having his favorite food, but he won't touch it - unless he puts it in ketchup - sometimes that's gross.
My big guy is growing so fast! The doctor is shocked that he can eat applesauce and yogurt with a spoon all by himself. It didn't seem odd to me, but he's been doing that the past few weeks. I guess that doesn't come along until 18 months. Who knew?! I should have told her he likes to brush his own teeth.

So, he really does just prefer to bang things with it.

Here's an updated picture of his giant bruise/scrape from last week.

So we bought Ares a new golf set. Not real clubs, (yet) but the $5 Walmart clubs. He loves them!
Decided he didn't want the driver, and he preferred the putter.

He's already got pretty good form, look at that!

House Update
I don't really have much else to type in. Rather than getting a bid, this girl wants to bring her mom (from out of town) to view the house. We spent ALL evening Monday and Tuesday cleaning (I mean, like, CLR the hard water stains, scrub all floors on our hands and knees, 10 loads of laundry, steam vac the carpeting, everything is clean!) because our real estate agent said that she'll be coming by sometime on Wednesday. So Tuesday night comes and goes, and there's no 2nd showing, BUT NOW~ we have one scheduled for tomorrow.
I'm going to keep Ares at my mom's house for as long as possible tonight so we don't mess up our beautiful house. (BTW mom, thanks for taking the dog today just in case, and tomorrow so they can view the property).
Fingers crossed!

House?!?!
I hope I'm not typing pre-maturely (OK, so I know I am).
Yesterday afternoon, we were called asking if we could show our house later that evening(they gave us about 6 hours). Adam and I each left work an hour early, so I got home at 4:30, and Adam at 5:30. At 5pm, they called and cancelled our showing. So I stopped picking up (beds were made, books picked up and garbage taken out already) and Adam made an awesome Chicken Marsala w/ linguine dinner (YUM - from what we got to eat). He had just poured two glasses of wine, and our door bell rang. 'Who could it be? The boy scouts came by yesterday for money, the newspaper guy dropped something off,' was what was going through my head...
The real estate agent with his customer. O-M-G! Not ready!!! We ran around like crazy! I ran to the basement to throw all the clothes that were in front of the washer into the washer and then threw ALL of the dishes, pots and all into the dishwasher. I had to use some hip action to get the dishwasher closed, (which made it that much more difficult to open it up later). We had the dog, the kid, us, and everything else completed in about 3 minutes. We were both sweating. The kitchen was NOT a pretty sight, but it was a lived in, workable, you-interrupted-our-dinner sight. Phew! I nearly cried when I found out Adam dumped my wine down the sink =(
Call from the real estate agent... "if we got a bid this weekend, could we be out in 25 days?" "Sure we can!" Just send us that bid! We're waiting......
On a tragic note. Ares and Adam were playing in the driveway before dinner, and Ares tripped and has a MONSTER sized (bigger than 1/2 dollar) scrape/bruise on his forehead, a small one on his cheek, and then a scratch on his knee. He was a trooper though. He was pretty much done crying by the time Adam brought him back in the house. Of course, he hasn't seen himself in a mirror yet!

A long weekend?
"Now I know why I'm getting paid the big bucks..." I say as I put in 10 hours during this long Holiday weekend. I guess it's a good thing I did, as I realize the consultant we paid to help price the Homeowners product made two (pretty major) mistakes. So now the IT design is nearly completed, the rules to be filed are almost done, the underwriting guidelines are finished, the pricing is (I hope) completed and now all I have to do is finish all of the above and then start it all over again with Auto *sigh*. Sleep, oh how I've missed you!

Pictures from our weekend at Grandma's (Great Grandma) in southern Indiana.
I think this was "If you're happy and you know it..."
Ares' favorite part of that song is the "hooray" part. haha
He was so happy to see a person when he looked through the window at the restaurant.
So happy that the waitress made the guy (a cook) go back out and wave back.
this made his evening.
Ares' first crayon drawing. He did pretty well. After the first few minutes
we figured out that the pacifier prevents the crayons from going into his mouth.
We had grandma and papa keep his first ever crayon drawing.

Getting old fast
I'm getting old fast. This job is SO stressful, and I'm SO busy that the days fly by so fast, which is making the weeks go by fast and months etc. I am going to get old much faster. I really like how the days here don't drag on like they did at PRG, however, I am so busy, that I watch "deadlines" (which I guess is used loosly around here), fly right by. I hate that. I really hate that.
On the plus side, my phone number was given out to agents now, so they can call me when they need product information, or have questions, or want sponsorship or... yay.

OK, I'm a liar... AGAIN!!
This is the start of it, I know. Each time I say something about my kid, he makes a liar out of me. At the EXACT SAME TIME I was uploading the video of him standing, he started walking.... no joke! Totally across the room! I made Adam run and grab another SD card so I can tape it again, because the one that goes in my camera was still in my computer uploading the other video. SO CRAZY!
So here's the second video of the evening. I guess he's REALLY not ready for bed. All he is doing is walking walking walking he's so excited. (As are we, can you tell!?!)
(video is currently uploading)

Still Not Walking...
... but we are standing pretty well. This was right before bedtime, so he was being goofy, but we had a good time with him.

26.2
I don't really have any pictures, and it sure did rain a whole lot. But this is a blog post to commend my dear husband on finishing his first marathon ever attempted! He averaged LESS than 10 minute miles, incredible! I'm so proud of him, he did a great job, and even did great during the 4 hour drive home that evening and went to work the next day. Go babydoll! =)
