Hall of mirrors
This blog is a mixture of our travel adventures and our new family adventures.
The title comes from a dumb blonde high school girl on a tour with us in Versailles who asked this question in every single room of the Palace.
The picture was taken while on our Honeymoon in China, on the Xian river.

Good Doggie
I forgot to mention in my last post how Ares is now noticing the dog. In fact, wherever Ares is, he's always looking around for Ballpark. He loves to watch us play catch, and will follow the whole process, the throw, the dog running, picking up the toy, and running back to us. It's so cute! On Monday, he grabbed Ballpark's ear, and tried to eat it, but Ballpark pulled away just before it got to Ares' mouth. He also grabbed Ballpark's nose, but the dog just licked Ares' hand, and I think it startled him, so he let go. One thing that I'm grateful for is Adam pulling the dogs ears/tail/legs and nose is that the baby doing it doesn't bother him at all!
Solid foods it is!
This past week has gone fairly quickly. Adam is finishing up his school work. Again, he doesn't handle the whole working/school thing very well. For my sanity, I agreed that he should not continue working on his master's until he gets a teaching job. It's harder for someone who's not currently teaching to get a job with a master's degree because they have to pay him more. I keep forgetting that we live in Cleveland... he's never going to find a teaching job!!! The Cleveland Indians are the laughing stock of baseball once again. For the second year in a row, we trade the prior year's CY YOUNG award winner for some no named minor leaguers. This time, Cliff Lee went to the Phillies for 4 players that weren't even their best minor league players. Philadelphia thinks of Cleveland as a bunch of suckers... and they are. At least the Phillies should have a good team again this year. Hopefully they can do something with it, right Jen?!
Ares has been pretty good. He sleeps awesome every other night. We have gotten (and by "we" I mean "Adam", since I'm at work regardless of when he wakes up) a few 12 hour nights out of him. He ate 48 oz one day, about 10 oz more than the dr recommends, but it's OK, he spit half of it up. It's very frustrating... on the plus side, today is Adam's last day of "class", so I'll start getting some more help in the evenings/nights now. He had his 4 mo. appt yesterday. Doc thinks that by starting him on some stage 1 baby foods that he will keep his food down a little better, and hopefully drink less milk. Less milk, less spit up, right? I sure hope. I'm not holding my breath though.
Our little guy weighed in at 15lbs and 9 oz, 25" long. This is 1lb and 1oz bigger than just 13 days ago! Holy Cow!! He's at 50% for weight, height and head circum. so we have the perfect kid, lol. The first picture here was yesterday, so he was 1 month and 1 week old (almost). The second picture here is Ares on his 4 month... birthday?

The key....
I think I have figured out how to get Ares into bed. We need to put him down before he's overly tired. I have done this 3 times now, and it's worked each night. Lets hope this post doesn't come back to bite me in the butt. The hard thing will be to continue this on the weekends and when we're out of town.
Adam has been trying to catch up on school work that he's behind on. That, combined with filling out applications for teaching jobs has left us with no time to do anything (other than Adam riding his bicycle). We will be going out this weekend =) Got an aunt to babysit and all! We are very excited.
I do need to start going to bed earlier. This whole 11:30 pm to bed and 5:30 to wake up certainly isn't working for me. How my mom can function on 4 hours of sleep is beyond me. At least Ares has been sleeping close to 11 hours now though!
Happy 4 month birthday Ares!! I love you!

rock and ROLL! =)
I swore he wouldn't roll over before he learned to do back somersaults, and today, I totally got a text message today from "Auntie Cindy" with a video of Ares rolling over! I got home, and he did it for me, and then did it for Adam multiple times.

How many outfits?!?
This past week has been rather rough for Ares. He still insists on not going to bed when we put him down, and he LOVES to spit up.... a lot. Thursday, I went to pick up the kid from day-care, and I was told he was on his 6th outfit and 19th bib!! I guess a bib wouldn't even last a half hour with him. It was pretty tough on the teachers, and one of the teachers even had to change her own outfit. I took him to the Pediatrician that evening, and great news is that nothing is wrong with him (other than reflux), bad news is that there's nothing to "fix" this problem.
I had Friday off of work. I took the baby to day-care, and he came home wearing the same outfit! Yes! He was making up for the bad day before. I didn't get much done inside the house, but I tore up all of the gross looking strawberry plants that had overgrown the neighbors garden into mine. I got it all up, but since she doesn't take care of her garden, I will need to keep up with it every day, or buy some major plant killers. Her house is foreclosing, so I think I will be able to pull all of her crap up soon too, to prevent it from growing into mine.
I have been packing boxes to de-clutter my house, so when we're ready to sell, it won't be as difficult to clean. I figure, little by little we can get our house in selling condition. Adam made BBQ Ribs and hamburgers yesterday, they were yummy. Ballpark loved me because I gave him all of the bones when I finished them. He hated me last night when he puked.
Adam gave Ares a bath last night. I came up to help, and see what was taking so long, and the two of them were in the bathtub together... it was too cute. I didn't take pictures :P

It's July!!
And I'm finally starting to enjoy the summer. **side note** I was driving to work today, when a yellow beetle (VW) started following me. This bug had "eye liner" and eye lashes around it's lights! Ewww!

OK, so Friday night I played softball, and felt great. Adam put Ares to bed, as well as Saturday morning took him to daddy boot camp that he was helping teach. This means, that between the two days, I had about 6 hours without the baby! Whoo!! love him to death, but it's nice to have some away time. The rest of the week was great! We rode our bikes for 20 miles, drove around in the Jeep with the top off, ate outside at Quaker Steak and Lube (LOVE THAT PLACE!!!), went to the dog park (where there were 9 wiener dogs at one time there!!) gave the dog a bath. Other than the fact that Ares did not want to go to bed at night, it was a perfect weekend!
I'm not so convinced that Ares is teething. I think that he was so fussy last weekend because we messed up his schedule by going down to Cinci. I sure hope he gets over this high maintenance routine soon or we get new jobs so we can get a bigger house soon!!

Update
**SHHHH** Everyone be quiet.. we're sleeping! YAY!
OK, so today I guess was rough at the day care too. He went through 3 outfits, mostly spitting up and drooling. He was also a little irritable towards the end. I brought him home, and he was such a happy baby! YAY! We took a long walk, played in the new bouncing toy, played on the activity mat, sat in the bumbo, swung in the swing and ended the evening in his pink bouncer, bath time (which he was CRAZY - RUNNING -
MAN) bottle and bed *gasp*. he even went to sleep the first time I put him down, which hasn't happened in weeks! YAY!!!
So this weekend was great other than Ares being irritable! We ate lots, and relaxed a lot (which is SOO wonderful with our crazy weeks). The food was awesome! **Sarah, I started reading your blog with all of the recipes, if you like mushrooms, grill some chicken, and then saute mushrooms in some butter, Dijon mustard and Marsala cooking wine... Yum! She even used Biggs brand of mustard, the cheap stuff!!) Totally something Adam and I will start to do.
Here's some pictures for the week!
Oh boy
It was a pretty rough weekend. We've got a teething baby on our hands. He hates going to bed, and last night cried for many hours before falling asleep. Adam and I tried everything imaginable, including him taking Ares for a walk, he still screamed. Finally, he fell asleep somewhere around 11, only to wake up 3 times during the night before a very early unexpected 5:30AM feeding. My poor baby is so miserable right now. We are all exhausted. The phrase of the day is :
"It's a good day when you like coconut donuts and don't put coffee in your oatmeal...."
**Side note: I hate coconut and I never drank coffee before today. I guess it doesn't really count when you add a half packet of hot cocoa to it.
Trying to figure out when we'll be in Cinci next! No more 3 day weekends for quite a while, but I think we'll be down in early August =)
Pictures to come as soon as I feel rested enough to take the energy to post.
