What a Weekend!

Valentines Day on Saturday! We went to my parent's house to work on the basement (OK, ADAM went to work on the basement, I pretty much just cleaned the scrapbooking room and went shopping). Later that night (after we found out someone had stolen our credit card number and bought stuff online) we went out to dinner at a new (and hopping) Mexican restaurant. NOTE: if all of the servers are blond high school girls, and you can't order by number, it's NOT a good restaurant. The queso appetizer we ordered was yellow nacho cheese, like from the Indians game or something. But it was nice to get out. On our way home, I got an email telling me that all of my baby bedding stuff that I had picked out (but not received) was discontinued. What an emotional day, I tell you!

On Sunday, Adam made pancakes for breakfast. I was reading when he was cooking, so what a surprise I saw when I sat down to a pink Cinnamon heart pancake... YUMMY! Every pancake he made was a heart, I had to take a picture, what a sweetie I have!
We ended up going to Babies 'R' Us and buying a couple of things off of the registry. Unfortunately, we didn't buy enough. We got some of the wall decals (I registered for 2 sets) however, after putting them up on the walls, we realize we need 2 more sets, so perhaps next weekend after the shower we'll go out and get some more (if they're still available!!). Here's the Gingerbread Toy Box I was talking about during the first shower we had. How cool is this?! It matches the baby's room so well! Too bad I wasn't able to save it forever!

Flexible Work Schedule

Every single article that Progressive has written the past 3 weeks talks about how great a flexible work schedule is, and gives examples of schedules that employees are working and why people should consider these schedules.... My freakin' manager won't let me work one, I've asked since October, some people here work 1-3 days from home per week, some work 4 hours at home each day, some work 4-10's, some work 4-9's and a half day, so why won't my manager approve anything?!?! It's frustrating, it's not like the extra $5/week I got as a raise this year is helping anything. I try not to spend it all in one place, but it's so difficult!

Past the point of no return

Sorry about the last post. Posting many pictures in Blogspot absolutely sucks. They delete themselves, they rearrange themselves, the places I put them with I type the blog is not where they end up when it's posted.... I really dislike this program, but unfortunately, since there are so many posts, and I know so many other people using this network, I'm stuck.
I went to the Dr today, it was really fast this time, I might have seen him for 3 minutes, if that. Baby seems healthy, about average size (without the internal exam, he won't know the actual size yet), I have appointments every week now, but still no more ultra sounds because everything seems great (so I only had one, this entire 9 months.... how awful). He said I am now past the point of no return, I mentioned how I thought we were well past that point, but I guess he meant that if I were to go into early labor, they wouldn't stop me. That kind of sounds scary! I can't believe how close we are! I am certainly looking forward to the day, although, I think there are some things I'd rather do first... like use my Dave and Busters cards and coupons that I have!! *grin*

"Man Shower"

Who had ever heard of such a thing, certainly not me... not until Sarah came up a few months ago asking if she and Bryan can throw a surprise "Man Shower" for Adam. I'm so happy that I said yes, as we both had the greatest time! Of course, when our group of friends get together, we never have a bad time, but this was an exceptional experience, complete with crackerjack and beer (or rootbeer) party favors.

There were games, such as "Say Hello to My Little Bottle" (a beer chugging contest using sippy cups, "Tops Off" (a twisted baby bingo using beer caps as markers).And a "Lets Make a Baby" contest using play-doh.

All in all, I hope everyone had a great time, we got some great gifts as well, some Man United things, a 6 pack of beer (hey, it's a man shower!)

The rest of the weekend was pretty boring. Adam took the Baby Boot camp for Dad's and I think he had a good time. He offered to assist in teaching the class after the baby is born. He also got an adorable little camo-onesie (boot camp.. get it?) for the baby and a very boring book that I've already read and I know he'll never pick up. Sunday we watched the Cav's lose and I did our taxes as he worked for a couple of hours with dad in the basement. I absolutely LOVE the Hope Scholarship. Somehow, our tax refund is like, more than double what it normally is!

I'm at that point

Entertaining fact: I'm now to the point where instead of taking the 5 seconds to bend over and pick up a piece of paper on the floor next to my chair, I would rather root through my top drawer, find tape, and attach it to a pen so that I can get the paper without the hassle of bending over.

Not-so-entertaining fact: It took me 2.5 hours to drive to work this morning =( and another 1.5 hours to drive home.

Update: It took me 1.5 hours to get to work this morning (day after yesterday, imagine that). For a total of 5.5 hours of driving in two days, and I still have to get back home =(

Class and PIZZA!!

This actually should have been posted before the last one about the shower. This post is Saturday, the prior post was for Sunday. Ah well....

This morning, Adam and I went to a baby basics class held at Hillcrest Hospital. It was only a 3 hour class, and it covered how to bathe an infant, how to properly swaddle an infant, and a handful of other techniques to soothe a crying baby (very important information). Adam did great, he learned how to change a diaper, and it was a pretty quick class. The other couple at our table is due the day after us and were very similar in personality. Random Fact: A child goes through (on average) 4,500 diapers in their lifetime. I had to specify "child" because Adam was a joker and asked if adult diapers counted. (Most of the people in our class had no personality.) I found that funny, anyhow, our guess was 7,000 diapers, so it looks like we'll go through a lot less than first anticipated.
Adam's mom and Robert came into town this weekend for tomorrow's baby shower (Robert didn't come for the shower, just for company). We went to Babies 'R' Us to get a mattress for the crib. The crib almost looks like a real crib now! How exciting!!
Adam and I took them out to the California Pizza Oven at Legacy Village for dinner. We had to wait about a half an hour to get seated, and the place was full of teenagers who would not let the elderly (or very pregnant) women sit, but dinner was excellent! Adam had some spicy chipotle Mexican type of pizza, mom got a pizza taco type of thing, Robert had a shrimp scampi pizza, and I had a BLT pizza (that tasted just like a BLT!) It was great, we were stuffed when we left. I probably could have rolled out. We were all pretty tired when we got home, so it was a pretty early night for all of us.

We're moving out of our house...

... and the baby is moving in. What a crazy day it was! I got to sleep in until about 8:15, which was really nice compared to the past few days. Adam made a great breakfast for everyone, blueberry pancakes, sausage, bacon, fresh strawberries and blueberries and lots of juice. After some lounging around, we were off to the baby shower.
There were so many people there! I can't believe how many people attended! Aunt Karyn and the girls drove up from North Carolina to attend, a couple of my friends from CSU were there, of course grandma's and all of my other aunts were there, Aunt Jeanette and some of the Kracjer girls, my female cousins, Sally & her daughter Tiffany, Janice, Mrs Bolles and Lisa etc etc etc. It was crazy! There were tons of fun games, and I think I opened gifts for hours! It was amazing how many things we got. I was grateful that people were able to find some neutral clothing for the baby. I had two (2) outfits only and was worried that I wouldn't get any. I had thought that I would have to wait until we had the child before they'd have any clothes, but that is not the case, and the child will not be driven home naked.
We got TONS of books, which is absolutely wonderful. In fact, Adam had already read "If you give a mouse a cookie" to the baby last night, and boy did he/she go crazy! I don't think it's used to hearing Adam's voice for so long. In the picture on the right hand side, you can see a whole stack of books on the bed and some of the clothing we got. We have a place to put diapers now (we got a LOT of diapers=) and a car seat that the baby will grow into. There were lots of bath toys and stuffed animals, and TONS of blankets that are so SUPER soft! It's amazing! Kathy even hand made a blankie for the baby, it's so beautiful! It's the colorful one on the side of the crib.
We got a big baby swing that is Incredibly soft and the high chair that connects to our regular kitchen chairs. Adam has already put that together, along with the mobile. We had planned on putting everything away immediately, but I wanted to take a big picture of everything, and after carrying it all up the stairs to the room, I was too exhausted to put things away. I'll probably do the laundry tonight. I am grateful for Aunt Korine and Corenna for staying longer and helping me organize things into bags. It made it so easy to put everything out on the bed, all of the bath stuff was together, the books were together, the clothing and blankets were each in their own bags etc etc. That's also going to make it that much easier to put things away. I just have to figure out where on earth I'm putting everything! The diapers and wipes are already taken care of, I have tons of newborn sizes, thanks to the shower (and the diaper cake that Aunt Nancy made!) so I know I won't have to go shopping for a while after I give birth. I also have a few packages of other sizes which will be great!
I can't believe I forgot to mention the most amazing cake/gingerbread thing in the ENTIRE WORLD! This was made by my mom's coworker. It's a toy box (with real toys inside!) decorated EXACTLY like the bedroom will be, I mean, the pillow we registered for, the wall hangings, everything was on this toy box. Then, there was a Winnie the Pooh iced character, and a train made out of gingerbread out front, (with peeps as the conductor and passengers and candy in the containers of the train). I'm sure there was more on there, but that's all I could remember right now. It was the most amazing thing I've ever seen, and Maureen (the woman who made it) should be commissioned to do famous people's cakes and have her own TV show. I can't believe I forgot to upload a picture of it, I'll do that soon! I originally had 7 pictures loaded here, but they kept deleting, so I'll add lots more later!

Snow snow go away.... forever

It's a good thing that Tuesday night, my former classmates and Adam convinced me to drive back to work to grab my laptop because the snow storm was getting bad. It took me quite a while to get home that night (after dinner), but thankfully, I did, because I was able to work from home yesterday. We got roughly 10-14" of snow (depending on what news channel you watch). Rumor has it, we've gotten 40.2" of snow this January (with only one day over 32 degrees, so none has melted) and if we get 2" more in the next 3 days, then it breaks the record for most snow in January. I had to shovel the back porch 3 times yesterday so Ballpark would go outside. Adam had to go into work, so he got to deal with the scraping of windows and the wind and ice on the highways. I literally didn't change out of my pajamas until I took a shower last night. It was awesome.

I've still been trying to get the house clean for this weekend, every time I pick up a room, Adam does something like make kool-aid or take out school supplies or tools or something and doesn't put anything away, so I have to re-clean. Since I worked from home yesterday, I did make a pretty decent dent in the cleaning though. I've also been cooking dinner a lot more often as I get home sooner and am hungry by the time he makes it home... but I've also still been doing the dishes for the meals that I cook. A bit frustrating seeing as I can hardly bend over to do anything anymore. I hope he starts helping out around the house soon.

Each day I get larger and larger. I went to the doctor on Tuesday, for the longest time I hadn't gained enough weight so I started eating ice cream (because I like it, not to gain more weight), but Tuesday the nurse said I should slow down on the ice cream. Ah well.... slow down means, like, not as often, not cut it out altogether. The days are still crawling by. I don't sleep so well anymore, and Adam leaves the dog with me in the mornings, but of course the pup doesn't sleep in, so then I have to get up and let him out. Not so much fun. I love the dog, but really, right now, he's just too much darn work for me. I'm actually looking forward to the time when I can't move at all and Adam will have to start doing everything. I guess I can start doing that sooner than later as I really can just barely move around comfortably.

I am REALLY excited about my showers coming up. I haven't really been showing since the last time I saw everyone, what a difference they're all going to see. Since the Miller's shower is in 3 weeks, they're really going to see a HUGE Athena, hahaha.

7 more weeks to go! 49 more days!!

Something about "nothing nice to say don't say anything at all". So, all I have to say is I need to go to the library to get some new books because I love to read, it calms me down.
